The ten main reasons that should write a book now!

Many would-be authors have a great book inside them, but most will never be written, and that's a shame. Isn't it time for you to quit making excuses, and write the book you've been dreaming about?

What keeps people from successfully writing the book of their dreams? Typically, would-be authors allow their lack of confidence, or a few flimsy excuses to stand in their way. But don't be deterred any longer, because I'm going to show you ten ways to overcome obstacles and boost your writing confidence.

Who exactly is capable of writing a great book, or the next bestseller? A lot more people than you might think. There are literally thousands of great writers who have amazing stories to tell. But here's the kicker: They'll never be discovered until they get off the sneid, and start writing.

Is it possible that YOU could be the next author to hit the bestseller's list? I hope so, because that would be really cool But even if your book doesn't ascend to the top of the charts, it's still worth writing, isn't it? After all, good books, told-right are always welcome in the publishing world.

Ten excuse-busters to help you write your dream-book at last:

1. IT'S YOUR DREAM. How do I know that? If it weren't your dream, you wouldn't be reading this article right now! What have you done with your dream? Have you pursued it? Worked diligently toward fulfilling it? Or have you allowed the excuses of life, and mental obstacles to kill it? Sounds like an easy question to answer, doesn't it? But for many would-be authors, the right answer; the one that leads them to fulfill their book-writing goal, is never discovered. And that's a shame, because your dream, if channeled properly, can become a powerful driving force in your life.

If you possess the personal passion that's needed to fulfill your dream, and are willing to devote yourself to achieving it, then quite possibly, your dream may come true. But it can only happen if you dare to believe that dreams are worth pursuing.

2. YOU just might have a story worth telling. I hope you don't think the only people capable of writing good stories, or creating quality books are those being published already, because that's just NOT true!

Popular opinion suggests there re no new stories to be told. You know, that all the good ones have already been written. But isn't it amazing, that every now and then, an inspired author will challenge the limits of creativity, and give us something fresh and wonderful to read again?

Why shouldn't that special someone be YOU? After all, if someone is going to do it, why should it be other writers all the time?

Personally, I believe everyone has a great story to tell, an amazing book to write, or good advice to pass along. The problem is, most non-published authors don't REALLY think they have anything to say.

Louis L'Amour, the famous western writer, said, "Folks is folks wherever you find them." If that's true (and I believe it is), then why shouldn't YOU have a tale to tell, and a great book to write? After all, the only thing that separates you from published authors is - they have already been published, and you haven't. So what - that doesn't make their writing skills superior to yours, does it?

I hope you're paying close attention to what I'm saying, because it's important for you to grasp this point if you are going to produce the kind of books you're capable of creating. You must believe that you possess the talent, the creative ability, and the necessary initiative to write your book successfully, or you'll never pull it off. For without tenacity, perseverance, and the right attitude, you will not succeed in the publishing world, because doors only swing open for those who knock loud and long enough.

Do you have what it takes to keep trying, even when others tell you to quit? Many successful authors had to battle through unbelievable rejection and incredible obstacles, before they finally got published. And chances are, your journey won't be that dissimilar from theirs. So keep on persevering, even when it would be easier to quit.

3. Are YOU an expert? If so, then use your expertise to write a book that will benefit others in your field, or assist people in making decisions that will make life better for them.

Personally, I find it very frustrating to go into the bookstore, in search of a book on a particular subject, only to find none. This trend holds especially true in the techno, writing and historical sections. Sometimes, dozens of nearly identical books have been written about the same subjects, but not a single volume on the subject you need.

Someone needs to fill in the blanks! Even though more books are being published now than ever before, there are still plenty of empty niches in the publishing world that are begging creative writers, and experts like you, to fill them. Take it from an author, who is an avid reader: The book world needs your help! We need authors who will actually use their experience, talent and expertise to widen the genre list, and help create books that people really want to buy.

4. Help wanted: Authors who will write good, clean, creatively written books, the whole family can enjoy. In the publishing world today, there's no shortage of authors who rely on the cheap crutches of sex, violence, and filthy language to make their books sell. And that's sad, because great storylines don't need immoral or offensive crutches to make people buy them.

Growing up, my parents told me, "Intelligent people don't need to use foul language." That's the same way I feel about book publishing. Creative writers don't need to use sex, violence or offensive language to sell books. If anything, it cheapens the story, and makes it unacceptable to people, who otherwise would have purchased their writings. Remember this: If the story is well-told and engaging, it will sell itself.

Need proof that clean books sell? Let me introduce you to Jan Karon (though she needs no introduction). Her Mitford series of books has sold over 25 million books since 1998. How's that for a clean book success story? But I hope you don't think her books are a one-time phenomenon, either, because they're not. There are enough good clean books at the top of the current and all-time bestseller charts to inspire anyone to go clean.

5. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." I hate using old adages to illustrate new points, but that particular one applies here. The truth is; if you sit on your laurels and do nothing, you can expect to accomplish exactly that in life.

You'll never become a published author unless you put your fingers to the keyboard and start typing. It's as simple as that. To win the marathon, you have to run the race. To go to the moon, you have to become an astronaut. I wish there was a 1-2-3 formula for writing bestseller books, but there isn't. It just takes a lot of hard work - and nobody can do it for you.

Now don't take me wrong. I'm not saying that writing isn't fulfilling, or pleasurable, because many authors enjoy it (I know I do). But whether you find it enjoyable or not, that doesn't change the fact that it still requires many hours of hard work.

If you are hoping to get rich quick off your writing ability, you might be disappointed, because most authors don't find the pot of gold at the end of their story's rainbow. Then again, in the publishing world today, you never know, it could happen. Every year, new writers hit it big, and best of all, you never know who it will be. So maybe, just maybe, that someone will be you. Of course, there's no way of knowing who will write the next book that tops the charts, but one thing we do know; that someone will definitely NOT be you, unless you write a book, and submit it to the publishing process.

6. You're not too old! It's my conviction that some of the best books reside within those who are over forty. They have the training, the knowledge, the history, the experience and often, the necessary time to devote to writing great books, but sadly, many 'older' people never do it. And you want to know why? Most often, they think they're too old to do it. You know what I say to that? Humbug!

How can I say that? I was past forty when I started writing my first book, and since then, I have written four more, plus several guides for group and individual studies. Want to know what I learned from the process? If I was able to do it, why shouldn't you be able to do it, too?

Think of it this way: What does it matter how old you are? You can't change your age, anyway, so why don't you do what you've always dreamed of doing, and stop worrying about how many ticks are left on the clock! Wouldn't you prefer to leave this world fulfilling your dream, instead of wasting your remaining years doing nothing, while wishing you had?

7. You can find the time, if you know where to look! Yeah, yeah, yeah - I know how hectic life can get, and how scarce time can be. But if you are ever going to fulfill your dream, you have to find a way to overcome this obstacle. Here's a hint: Try swapping some of the elective activities in your life for quality writing time. What do I mean by that? During the course of a seven-day period, everyone wastes time. Your assignment is to find those wasted hours and convert them into writing time.

How can you convert wasted hours for usable ones? Start by tracking your activities for the next few weeks. This will give you a good idea of what your time inventory looks like. Next, you need to decide which of those hours can successfully be converted into writing time.

Some of the items on your list might include excessive sporting activities, trips to the mall, time spent surfing the web, mindless television viewing, or even your hobbies. Now, I am not suggesting that you quit interacting with family and friends, sell your home, move to Montana, buy a shack and start writing. But with careful planning, you might find a few hours every week that you can devote to writing.

8. If you're not creative enough to write fiction, write something else! Who said you have to write fiction? Fiction is only one genre among many. Besides, it's the most flooded part of the book market, anyway. You'd actually be much better off finding a different niche, than trying to replicate the hundreds of established fiction writers at the top of the bestseller list.

What can you write, if you don't write fiction? You can write whatever you want to write! Go into your favorite bookstore, and look at all options. A few of the categories include: children, fix-it, self-help, advisory, hobbies, travel, relationships, problem-solving, religion, lifestyle, leadership, poetry, biography, media, sports, finance, reference, and a whole lot more.

An excellent method for determining what book to write, is to use the same formula entrepreneurs use when starting a new business. Start by answering these two questions, and you might be on your way: What topics (subjects) are you most passionate about? What do you enjoy talking about, or doing, more than anything else?

What comes next? Use the passion you have for your hottest-topic to inspire readers. Will it work? It has worked exceptionally well for thousands of other authors, so there's no reason it shouldn't work for you. For one thing, your passion will be evident when you write about something you really enjoy. Your readers will pick up on it, too, and will enjoy it much more than a book that was written for lesser reasons.

9. Your style may not be what publishers are looking for? Who said every book needs to be written in the same style, anyway? Do we all go to the same store, and buy identical outfits to wear? Of course not. After all, we aren't clones.

So why should your creative writing style be any different? When you sit down to the keyboard, try being a trendsetter, and write something different from the rest of the books out there. Be uniquely you! And perhaps, you will find success in it.

10. What if your book is not mainstream enough? Write for pleasure. Enjoy what you are doing, and it will be a success. If your book doesn't have a strong tie-in to a specific category, then develop a slant that will connect your book with an existing niche, or create a new niche.

Every book in the publishing world doesn't fit neatly into the confines of established topic headings, anyway. This is especially evident in the world of technical writing. As technology expands, so do the categories and sub-categories that try to contain them. But what happens when technological advancements fail to fit into existing topic headings? Publishers make new ones.

If you create a book that is worth reading, I believe publishers will discover a way to sell it.

Let's wrap it up.

OK, it's time to get that book written! Got it? So repeat after me. "I am not going to allow excuses to keep me from writing the book of my dreams anymore! Starting today, I am going to pursue my dream, write from the heart, and get it done!"

Before we finish up, however, I want you to consider this: "Do you have what it takes to fulfill your dream, and get that book written?"

I wish I could answer that question affirmatively, for you, but I can't. So you will have to look deep inside your heart, and answer that question for yourself. I hope you answer it like a thoroughbred answers the bell. If you do, you'll be on your way to fulfilling your dream. And with that, you'll find a sense of fulfillment, and quite possibly, a whole lot more!

Even after reading this article, you still might be tempted to reach inside your excuse bag, and find reasons for not pursuing your dream. Sadly, many people do, and that explains why so many dreams go unfulfilled.

Overcoming every obstacle is your job. If you are going to write the book of your dreams, then you have to find a way. That's the bottom line. You can allow excuses (even legitimate ones) to stand in your way forever, or you can get off the sneid, and conquer them all! The choice is yours.

Starting right now, I hope you will pursue your dream with passion, and fulfill your destiny with purpose. Maybe it will take a little creative shuffling of your life to do it, but I strongly encourage you to find a way to write that book NOW! After all, it's what you've always wanted to do - so don't waste another minute. Go break out that computer, and write! Who knows, you just might be amazed at the results!

Things you should know about how to determine the value of the book

If you are a new book collection or you have a book that you want to determine the value of should know some terms relating to the classification of paper. The book value is based on two basic things: shortage and status. If a book is few (very few copies available worldwide) will have value. A book may be in pristine condition, but if printed ten million copies, will have no value above the "new" library price. Why the first editions are the most commonly collected, from the first edición-primera books printing is usually the least number of copies. The shortages also applies when an author signing a book, that there are many fewer copies signed than the common perception. Status of the book is the other key: a limited edition books collector status makes a big difference in value.

With the popularity of online book sales, a common language to express the condition of the book is in general use. A seller should describe precisely the book status in order to have a satisfied customer and to justify a price that correlates to the condition. Except in very good condition, many booksellers also use steps between categories, such as "about right", "very good plus" or "very good less."

Book conditions described below also apply to jacket a book (if the book was originally published with one), which can be up to half the value of the book. When it comes to a book in hardcover with a dust jacket, the degree of dust jacket says modified. For example, a condition can be described as beautiful very good (or F/VG) which means a fine book in a very good jacket.

Very fine (VF) or new

Grade given highest any copy of the book, very well described a sharp new copy with no defects. The term is new, but the new cannot be used to describe a book that was printed more than one year or two in the past. If a book has even one minor stain isn't rated "very good". Some vendors use the phrase "mint" or "as new" rather than "very well". These conditions are also acceptable.

Fine (F)

A good degree corresponds to a copy that has no visible defects. Collectible book resellers rarely give a higher degree of fine book. A book that is "good" has been managed with care. A fine degree can have exceptions noted to specify minor in the book or the cover imperfections.

Very good (VG)

The most common degree for a copy of the collection is very good. A very good copy is no longer sharp; It has been handled and it shows some signs of wear, but is still solid. Defects such as signatures of ownership, bookplates and other brands in the description, along with friction, chips and tears and cuts price on jackets of dust in their case should be observed.

Good (G)

Well it's the lowest grade given a collectable book. The book has been used and shows evidence of management, but is everything. There may be shortcomings, such as spots or a cracked hinge, or may have a collection of small problems, how to write, highlighting, blows (smashing of thorns or corners from the handling) or pages with errors. A dust jacket may have some scratches or tears, but should not be falling apart.

Fair

A term used for a rather dilapidated copy is "just". This condition is rarely bought by book collectors, because they are not valuable specimens in this condition. A "fair" book is basically falling apart.

Ex-Biblioteca

A common example of a bad book is a copy of the ex-biblioteca, which usually has defects such as glued pockets, sheets of grouper and paste in the. A copy of the ex-biblioteca, although not collectible, can be an acceptable reading copy.

Book Club Edition

An edition of Book Club is not generally collectible. There are several ways to identify editions book club (BC). Different book clubs use different criteria for the identification of their books.

Editions book club commonly smaller are the book's cover is regular. There is often a blindstamp impressed or embossed on the back of a hardcover book near the bottom of the back cover, near the spine. This blindstamp always indicates an edition of book club. The dustjacket may contain a notation "book club Edition"

Notes on first editions

How to tell if a book is a first edition? This is not an easy-to-answer question. Criteria to indicate a first edition vary from publisher to publisher. Some editors do not identify their first editions. Otherwise, a book usually dial in one of the first few pages (copyright page) that "First edition". There may also be a line number 9 8 7 6 etc... and whatever the number is the lowest of the sequence is the printing. A first edition first printing is the most valuable, so the line number would fall to one. This designation was implemented after World War II, so the books before this will not include (a many later). Also, if printing date coincides with the date of copyright, there is a good chance, the book is a first edition.

Top 10 best personal finance books of all time!

As I was arranging the numerous personal finance books I've accumulated over the years, I couldn't help but wonder how I can put everything together in such a tiny little space. Then I asked myself, if I had a very small book shelf that can accommodate only 10 of these books, which books would I choose? I had to think really hard because I love reading books and I've learned a great deal about life and money through ALL of them. These 10 books are special in that they have completely altered the way I view money and life! They have inspired me to learn more about money and pursue financial freedom! May these same books help you achieve your financial dreams!

Here are Rich Money Habits' top 10 best personal finance books of all time!

#10. 8 Secrets of the Truly Rich by Bo Sanchez

This one is special because it's written by a preacher - and a famous Filipino preacher at that! Bo Sanchez is a best-selling author of inspirational books in the Philippines. This is his first book that openly talks about money, business and investing.

What I particularly like about this book, is that it tackles one of the most critical obstacles in making money - that is, how to reconcile money and religion. Living in the only predominantly Catholic country in Asia, it is very important for me to align what I believe in whether it be on religion or money. Otherwise, I'll just be confused and end up going nowhere.

The book is full of stories on how daily money habits make you rich or poor. It describes the most common perceptions we have about money. We were taught that money is the root of all evil. When we watch our favorite TV shows, rich people are often portrayed as greedy. They only got rich through "drug" dealing or some other "illegal" means. Due to this stereotyping, some us unconsciously don't want to be rich! Who would want to be the "bad" guy in our own soap opera called life?! :)

As a result, there is conflict inside of us. Some of our internal dialogs are

"I want to be rich...BUT not so rich that my friends would hate me and I would no longer have friends." err...who wants to be loner?! :)

Or the most common,

"I want to be rich...and I'm so desperate the only way for me to get rich is by winning a million dollars through lottery."

The great tragedy is never realizing that you don't have to be a crook, or be greedy, or become unfriendly, or win a lotto ticket to be rich - you only need to build rich money habits!

#9. Multiple Streams of Income by Robert G. Allen

This is one of the books I bought when I was in the US. Since I love reading personal finance books, I ordered a bunch of them online. I was able to get them cheaper because I looked under the "used" books section. Surprisingly, most of them are in relatively good condition and look almost new!

The book was my first exposure to having multiple streams of income. For someone who worked as an employee most of his life, I thought I could only earn from one stream of income - my job! I realized having only one stream of income is not a very good idea because there's also only one way money can come to me - through my paycheck!

Having multiple streams of income is NOT necessarily having a second job, or even a third! Multiple streams of income building systems so that money can flow through your life. It means, investing both your time and money to learn how to build those systems.

One way could be through real-estate investments where you get a "stream" of income from the monthly rental of your tenants. Another "stream" could be getting portfolio income like "dividends" or "interests" from your stocks or bonds investments. And yet another "stream" could be from royalties you receive from publishing a book or a music recording if you're a singer. Having a LOT of "streams" where money can come to you is certainly better than relying on just your "job" to make money. The challenge is how to utilize what you have like time, skills, and money to setup these streams of income.

#8. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker

The great thing about the book is it makes you realize what money habits you have developed since the day you were born. It brings out those subconscious thoughts that are hindering you from achieving financial success. Some of the internal dialogs with yourself could be.

"I am not good enough. I'll never be amount to anything financially."

Or you might say

"I'm poor because my parents are poor...and my grandfather is poor...and my great grandfather is poor...so I will always be poor..."

You might not be saying it out loud. You might only be thinking about it. Worse, you might not even be aware of it. And you wonder why you'll not getting anywhere. As T. Harv Eker aptly put it

"...if your subconscious 'financial blueprint' is not 'set' for success, nothing you learn, nothing you know and nothing you do will make much of a difference."

#7. The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss

The book speaks about the "New Rich", a group of people who have the time, money and mobility to spend only 4 hours a week to generate money and live the life they want. The rest of their time is spent on things they love to do like dancing in Buenos Aires, scuba diving in Panama or basking in the Hawaiian sun.

Who wouldn't want to spend only 4 hours of his time working instead of the usual 40 hours a week? Who wouldn't want to have the luxury of time to do the things you really love? Who wouldn't want to take a very long vacation in the beaches of Hawaii while your business is taken care of and money is still coming in?

For employees, it offers practical tips on how to negotiate with your boss for a work-at-home arrangement. It also provides ideas on how to plan your own "mini" retirements so the money is still coming in, without you around. It even discusses how you can "outsource" your life!

The 4-hour workweek is easy to read. The ideas are presented in a simple and uncomplicated manner that you think you're reading a comic book. The book is conversational and funny. Reading it is like speaking with the author face to face. You might even find yourself occasionally laughing at his jokes. (I know I have) :)

#6. Rule #1 by Phil Town

I picked up this book out on a whim when I was at a bookstore in Malaysia. The book explains investing in a very simple and understandable manner. It is not intimidating in any way. After reading this book, it made me realize that I did not need to be afraid of investing. I just need to learn how to do it right.

Rule # 1 is "Don't lose money."

Whether the market is going up or going down, don't lose money. Whether it is a bear market or a recession, don't lose money. Whether you have billions or just a couple of hundred dollars in investment, don't lose money.

The book discusses some of the basic myths about investing and provides simple strategies for successful investing while spending only 15 minutes a week. It tells about the five key numbers that really count when determining the value of a stock or business. It even mentions valuable internet tools and the advantages of managing your own investments to achieve your investment goals.

I know there may be other books on investing out there, but so far, this is the only one I've come across that made me understand the world of investing a little bit better.

#5. The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason

I came across the Richest Man in Babylon from reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. It tells about the ancient secrets of money. The book coined the phrase "pay yourself first". In ordinary terms, it means - SAVING. But it is more than that. The book tells that in any trade you're in, you CAN still "pay yourself first". Once you have "money" in savings, you can then have that "money" work for you.

But how can you save when your little money is not even enough to survive on? How can you set aside 10% of your income when you're living on 110% of it? How do you "pay yourself first" when the creditors are coming after you?

Paying yourself first is certainly not easy. It takes tremendous discipline. That's one of the reasons why it is not popular. But once you get the rich money habit of controlling your money instead of it controlling you, your confidence builds up, you'll think that if you can do this then you can do anything. And as with anything related to money, it touches everything. Your health improves. You become successful in what you do. People will wonder why you're always brimming with confidence. You become the richest man in every sense of the word.

Isn't it better to walk into a store knowing you can buy anything you want because you have the money (saved)? Doesn't it give you peace of mind knowing that if some emergency occurs, you can readily rely on your saved "emergency fund"? Would it be nice to be able to help your family or those closest to you "financially" for a change? That's the dream. And it starts with paying yourself first.

#4. The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley Ph.D. and William D. Danko Ph.D.

The book is based on a comprehensive research on the money habits of millionaires. The results are surprising in the sense that majority of those millionaires are not what we commonly expect them to be. As aptly described in the book,

"These people cannot be millionaires! They don't look like millionaires, they don't dress like millionaires, they don't eat like millionaires, they don't act like millionaires - they don't even have millionaire names. Where are the millionaires who look like millionaires?"

Many of the "next door" millionaires are first-generation. They did not inherit their riches, they built them. Few of them do not spend more than $100 for a watch. Others don't even wear a suit to work! They engage in types of businesses which could be classified as dull-normal. Some are welding contractors. Some are rice farmers. Some are pest controllers. Others are coin and stamp dealers.

What separates the "next door" millionaires from the rest is their money habits. They are frugal in nature. They value money. They invest at least 20% of their income. They even have a "go-to-hell fund" which can provide for their expenses for at least 10 years without working at all.

I think the most important lesson from the book is not that we know who the actual millionaires are, but the realization that it could be YOU! If they can do it, so can you! It's time to build your own rich money habit and be the "millionaire next door"!

#3. Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez

I bought this book out on a whim. I was actually looking for the book "Outliers" by Malcom Gladwell when I saw this book at 20% off.

The book tells about managing not only your money but looking at it in totally different way. Your money is only part and parcel of what your life is. There is also time. There is also your dream! What do you enjoy most? How do you spend your money? What do you do with your time? Would you still do what you do even if you have all the money in the world?

The book emphasizes managing the resources that you have like money and time. It offers very specific tips like monitoring your spending and whether each of those is contributing to your goals or not. It also has some ideas on how to identify exactly what you like to do and manage both your money and time so you can do more of what you love to do and less of what you don't like to do. It even has some charts to help you picture out and plot where you are and when your freedom day will be.

I think the main message of the book is not to choose money over your life or the other way around - it is to have BOTH.

#2. Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki

As mentioned in my personal finance story, this is one of the books that made me realize I really need to develop rich money habits to achieve financial freedom. The book is a story of growing up learning about money from two different dads: one is rich and the other one is poor. The story unfolds to describe the different money habits of the rich dad and the poor dad, each one producing a different financial result.

The book makes the very complex world of money and business seemingly simple. It is so simple that the ideas can be explained to a child using only sketchy drawings. The drawings illustrate how cash flows from your pocket to the bank when you pay your bills, and how it flows from your company to you when you get your paycheck.

What you do with the money after your receive it determines whether you become rich or poor. Do you use the money to buy assets like real estate investments or setup businesses? Or do you use it to buy liabilities like a brand new LCD TV in 12-easy-monthly-payments-with-zero-interest!

The reason I liked the book is because it inspired me to become better and to view business and money in a totally different way. It expanded my understanding of how money really works! Most of all, it gave me the confidence to dream again!

#1. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Think and Grow Rich is one of the first books I've read about money. The main message of the book is that you have to "think" about money first before it becomes real. It is a direct translation to the phrase "what your mind can conceive, your body can achieve". When you really think about money and you have this "burning desire" to make it real, all the universe conspires to build the means to bring it to you.

Money is, first and foremost, only an idea. It is not real. The money you hold when you buy a bag of grocery is only as real as the "mutual" agreement you have with other people that the paper you're holding is worth something of value equal to that you're buying.

The book doesn't say "Work Hard and Grow Rich". Working hard means different things to different people. For an employee who doesn't like what he's doing and only get paid very little, everything is "hard work". For someone who love what he does, "working hard" is not in his vocabulary.

As Henry Ford said,

"Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it."

There you have it! Rich Money Habits' top 10 best personal finance books of all time!

P.S. How about you? What are the best personal finance books you've read?

How to promote your book

Promoting your book doesn't have to be a daunting task. It can be fun, but you must run with the precise planning. Promotion of a book in the appropriate way to generate interest. People will begin to buy the book and they will get the benefits of their work through money and popularity. When promoting his book, the possibilities are endless. They are more creative methods, more likely to catch people's attention.
One of the most important things about the promotion of his book, no matter how went from its publication, we always have a few copies at hand. Keep some in your car when it was running errands or traveling. And be sure that if it stays without by copies, which is a way to sort your books. One of the best methods to draw attention to is to begin to distribute additional copies of the book. People loves gifts, especially when it comes in the form of an exciting murder mystery or a sexy romantic getaway. If the book is good enough, the news spread and people will buy the book. If you have enough copies, can leave samples in its coffee shops favorites with flyers. The book may disappear, but giving it away is a good way to promote his book, because it gets people read and talk about it. You should start with the distribution of pamphlets and publicity of the mass meetings. This is going to cost money but as people - say anything risky, nothing win. Book signings are another great way to promote his new book. But try to think outside the box. Book signings do not have to be in a bookstore. Depending on what your book is about trying to a specialty store. An example would be if he wrote a book healthy attempt to cuisine, a book in a store of food. To arrange a book signing, trying to talk to the administrator of the site that you want to sign in. In addition to books to sign and sell, have a little writing in his book along with how people can go on as requested. Interviews for radio and newspapers can also help to promote his book. There are always empty places on the radio and in newspapers to be filled, so why not talk to his station local or periodic radio to see if you can help. Send comments to local and national magazines. Participate in book fairs. Try also to local fairs in your area such as health fairs, fairs, etc. which focus on the subject of his book. Optimize your web presence, if you do not know how, learn! It is increasingly important to get the internet exposure. There are many people that will hear the title of his book when a friend talks and so we decided to search online - and if they can't find, it is likely that has just lost a reader. Not only that, but offering the book online, is possible for anyone worldwide to find your book. Get at Amazon.com and promote his book there. There is a feature of "real name" that people can use to return to his book. Write comments on similar books and enter into discussions. See and get the attention that leads to his book. Having the book on Amazon is actually the easiest way of making sure that there are always examples available. Most people who use the internet is at least somewhat familiar with Amazon and get your book delivered them quickly. Get a web site - this is very important, you need a web site as soon as your book is out. Also, if you have a Web site dedicated to the book and orders available on the Web site, it is a great way to promote his book. Create a promotional website for the book. Domain names can be created for as low as $9 per year. Once created the domain, it is better to fill with excerpts from the book along with testimonials from respected authorities. Ensure that the URL address of the domain is included as a signature in your messages for e-mail and posts in discussion panels. You have to connect your website directly to the page of his book in many places, in other words, Amazon. Post comments to blogs and Web sites related to his book. Promote your book in your comments, if appropriate, and the hyperlink to the website of her book of his signature. Refrain from joining the forums with the sole intention of promoting the book! To Forum advertising to be effective, must become a valuable member of the community. Ask people who have blogs to write his book comments on their blog sites. His family and friends can help promote your book through their Web sites and blogs to spread the word. Start blogging! Start a blog that is dedicated to his book. Use social networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. sites. Create a page of fans and counting book excerpts, as well as News & versions. Don't forget to join other pages of fan & groups to network with other fans. Follow ranking of the his book in the online ranking sites, particularly sites that allow for revisions and comments. You can help guide your book marketing strategy, so it can promote your book to the best possible audience. Create a catchy video about his book and do not forget to show your actual book so people can see your point. Often people will remember a cover as seen when even can not remember the title. Above all, fun. Promoting your book is a great way to share it with you with the world, so enjoy it.
There are many resources available to market your book. The most important thing to remember is that you are the best Publisher for your work. It is his words and ideas, to be the best person to promote his book.

How to write a book in just 3 - 30 days, even if you can not write

Do you have a book in you?

Well, I feel that everybody has a book in them. It's just a matter of when you're going to write it.

Do you have experience or expertise in some particular area? What about all your work/career experience, personal relationships, spiritual searching and studies, all the knowledge, all your life experience, the things that have helped you in life?

Perhaps you're a computer programmer, you're a single parent, you've been in sales, you know how to open a restaurant or a hairdressing salon. You know what NOT to do in relationships etc which mean you know what to do J! Right? Well, I feel that everybody has a book in them everyone has a story to tell or an experience to help people.

Perhaps you have a how-to book in you or it could be an audio program or video/DVD. It's such an AWESOME way to help yourself have PR for your life's work and/or business. Also having written a book will bring you 110% more credibility in the marketplace. So let's begin ...............

How do we write a book Michele????

This process I am about to share with you is so simple and so much fun. My friend Wilma McIntyre and I wrote "Conversations on Money, Sex and Spirituality in just 3 days using my method. I have been using this method now for over 12 years. I made it up because when I wrote my first book I could not type. This process you can also use when you are going to create a motivational audio program or even a video. (Unless you can adlib to perfection. If you cannot adlib without um thrown in KEEP readingJ) As this method will help you become very clear and totally professional.

Even IF you do not think you have a book in you, writing out the following exercises will help you gain so much clarity on what you do want to do.

I have had MANY people complete this section at my live events, really not thinking they had a book in them and some ended up writing books very quickly with more enthusiasm and passion then they ever knew they had.

If you are reading this now because you DO wish to write a book, I have some GREAT and yet simple examples to help you get started OR to quickly improve the writing you are presently doing.

First of all, make a decision on what it is you choose to write about. For example, if I was in network marketing and I'd been in the business for a while and had success, I know that having a book on how to have a successful network marketing business would be tremendous for adding publicity and credibility about who I am. This can be handed out and also sold through your own Website, or other websites including Amazon.com, and through many other areas. If you do choose to self-publish your own book, which I believe is a wonderful, freeing way to begin a writing career, we'll be covering that topic in another one of my articles on in the "How to Self-Publish." For now let's get the book written.

Further down, (print out the article) write down areas of experience in your life. List six areas of experience you have in life. For example:

· I have studied many spiritual books and been to many seminars and feel that I have a great metaphysical self-help book in me.

· I have experienced a great deal of success in sales, and would like to write a book on sales.

· I have a great deal of experience on how to bring up children as a single parent.

These are just a few examples to get you started, because starting is what it is all about. Go ahead and fill in six areas that you have experience in from career related experience to your personal and home life.

AREAS OF PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:

Now that you have listed the areas of experience that you have, write the top three areas that you feel the most desire to write about.

TOP THREE LISTING FOR your Book, Audio Program, Product IDEA:

Next, pick your number one area.

NUMBER ONE AREA I WOULD LIKE TO WRITE ABOUT:

Okay, now you have the area you would like to write about. Whether it is fiction, non-fiction, a how- to - book, or a workbook, an audio program or even a video/DVD, next you are going to write down some ideas for your title. It makes it very, very easy so please do this with an open mind. Write down five ideas now, just off the top of your head. Don't get too much into your left brain. Let the ideas flow through your right brain, and just write down anything you think of.

· How to Bring up Children as a Single Parent

· How to Increase Your Sales

· How to Eat a Healthy Diet in the Fast-Food Lane of Life.

Okay great!! So now you have some ideas! These are just working book title ideas; they are not in stone, they are not it yet. (Or one may beJ) This is just to get your juices/passion up and your creativity flowing. Later, you will come up with a great subtitle. These days, you can have quite an esoteric book title, but have your subtitle let the reader know what's in it for them, what the benefits are.

For example, you will notice that all my MusiVation(TM) products have a very dynamic subtitle. In my audio program, Be Your Perfect Weight, the subtitle is Dynamic Psychological Breakthrough in Weight Control. As another example, the title of my 6-tape audio program is Affirmation Power, and the subtitle¾done as a top of the title subtitle¾is Be A Magnet to Success through [then the title] Affirmation Power. My best selling book I wrote with Rock Riddle How To Be A Magnet To Hollywood Success, is subtitled Your Complete Step-by-Step system to making it in Show Business. My book I co wrote with Wilma Conversations on Money, Sex, and Spirituality is subtitled How to Attract Multi-Dimensional Abundance in Your Life.

As you can see from these examples, if you show the people what's in it for them through a well defined simple descriptive subtitle, then they know they are going to read a magnetic, powerful book before they've even started reading it.

Some of my titles are what's in it for them, as well. For example one I wrote with Bob Proctor, Be A Magnet to Money is the title, so that's basically telling them what's in it for them. And then our subtitle is Dynamic Psychological Breakthrough in How to Attract Money. So having a double whammy in two very strong areas is very powerful.

Number one, your book title is telling them what's in it for them, and Number two, your subtitle is telling them what's in it for them.

However, that is simply your title. Now for the exciting part! You are now going to write out your table of contents.

I suggest you write ten areas, or ten chapters. This is a little more challenging if you're writing fiction, however, I feel that just writing down ten ideas for your chapters or your book topics to start with helps tremendously in getting the juices flowing and keeps everything in Divine Order. You will see this clearly later on, after you write your ten topics.

Go ahead now and write ten topics on the next page. For example, if you were to write a book about sales, you could start your topics with:

· Is Money Everything?

· Love Your Customers

· Have a Positive Attitude

· How to Keep Keeping On

· Look Ahead, Not Behind

These are just a few ideas of book/product topic contents. Write down NOW ten- twelve areas. Sometimes people find such a great topic idea doing this that IT ends up being their new title, straight from their table of contents. Now go ahead and create your table of contents!

The next suggestion I'm going to share with you on how to write a book IS so SIMPLE. It came to me when I was working on my first book. I just find it so EASY to write a book or an audio program this way. What I do, is so very easy and fun (because remember, writing a book is FUN J)

Write ten questions for each topic. With these ten questions, ask a friend to interview you and treat it as if they are, someone who is a TV or radio show host (i.e., Oprah, Michele J) who is really interested in that particular topic in your table of contents, especially if it's a how-to book or a non-fiction book. Simply write out the questions; these will be questions that you will answer for all areas that you already know about. Then, I suggest you start reading a lot of books about that particular topic and getting a lot of information into your mind.

You already have a lot of information in your sub-conscious mind that is just waiting to be released when it's needed. With these questions, get a very good friend to interview you. Pretend it's an interview show. Get a tape recorder, get them to ask you the questions, and then you just flow with it. Just answer the questions; don't be nervous--no one's out there listening to this! It's just you! Ask your friend to please be very focused and not agree or disagree, or say, "Oh, yeah, that happened to me, too." They are going to be a professional interviewer and simply be there, asking the questions. When you're finished with one answer, they will ask you the next question. Do this for each topic; it's so much fun! Next, type up what's on the tape for each topic (or have someone type it for you). Finally, take out all of the questions; then just leave your answers. Then you have a whole chapter or topic for your table of contents done. Do this for all ten areas. Do not edit as you go, just take out the questions.

Once all ten topics have been done, go back and start typing. Add areas that you may not have had handy when answering the questions, for example, you may want to quote a particular person in your book. You may want to speak of the story of a successful person in your book. You can add that in later. What is very important to remember, whether you use this interview technique or simply go ahead and just write, is that you go ahead and just write! Every time you give yourself time to write, it doesn't matter what you write, as long as you write. Don't edit as you go. The editing can be done later. Too many people will never finish a book because they feel each area or every sentence has to be perfect as they go. Again, I repeat, DO NOT EDIT until you have finished and you have all the information written. Now you have your story/product written! Then edit later. Don't even edit each chapter as you go. Just get every chapter written; finish that book. The editing can be done later, either by you or by a professional.

I also feel it's wonderful, if it's a non-fiction book, to write stories about how other people conquered those particular topics. Perhaps you can even interview some well-known celebrities. A lot of well-known, successful writers and entrepreneurs want extra publicity. And, it is free publicity for you. So, go ahead and contact these people. You'll be surprised who knows whom. Email out to a whole group of friends, "Hey, does anybody know Richard Branson?" "Hey, does anybody know blah, blah, blah?" "Hey, does anyone know Melanie Griffith?" You'll be surprised how many people will know someone who knows them. You know, they say, and I agree with this, you know who they are--they are us! They, which are us, say you are only four phone calls away from any person you would like to meet. And I do agree with this. Sometimes it may be five or six, but very rarely. Just take some action. That is part of networking, which is another chapter.

It is also a very good idea to write little example stories of the success of others or conduct a short interview with the actual people. You can mention on your book cover that these people are included. And then, at the end of the book, you can mention the person's book and their Website and their contact information. People love this; it's free publicity. I have been interviewed for many, other books. People always put my contact numbers; I love it! I would do it for anybody. If anyone wants to interview me, I do it. Anybody will do the same thing. It's a very rare person who won't do it. This way you also you get to be networking and meeting great people while you're doing interviews. Priceless!!!! Call some people you've always loved to meet. It's so good to always remember to be in the consciousness of the people who are already doing what you want to do.

If it's a fictional book you're writing, storyboard it. I suggest you create a mind map. Put a big circle in the middle and get all the characters written from that circle. For example, if it were Gone with the Wind, then "Gone with the Wind" would be in the circle in the middle. Then a little balloon off from that would be Main Character--Heroine. If you know you want a heroine, think of a name for your heroine. Offshoot that--what century is it written in? Is it Sci-Fi, or is it back in the history books of the 1400's?

Storyboard all your characters. What type of characters they are, their characteristics, what type of personalities and looks? Allow the story to take on its own vision and flow. When you storyboard, mind map a fictional book, and put it up on the wall, it really gives you access to great ideas, because you're mystically saying to the Universe, "This is what I want to write about--give me ideas." And it will come to you!

How to sell books at Amazon

Authors know that get their books listed on Amazon is crucial for sales of books. Most readers are doing to Amazon first place to go to buy books, and with options of free shipping from Amazon and the convenience of shopping from home, this trend will not change. But Amazon offers different options to authors to sell their books, which can be confusing and slow unravelling. Here are some simple ways to maneuver through this process.

((Amazon_ofrece_bƔsicamente_tres_formas_de_vender_el_libro_en_su_tienda_online:_1) announced the book on Amazon and then sending copies to Amazon, 2) have a seller account, or 3) selling his book for Kindle. I concentrate on just the first two options, which refer to non-digital and printed books.

What is the difference between having Amazon sells his book and the creation of a merchant account to sell your book yourself on Amazon? Time and money. As an author, you will have to decide whether time or money is more important in working with Amazon, or can balance both forms at least until that decides that it works best for you. Below are explanations of how to do both and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

His book the Amazon list to sell

How: This requires creating an account of "Amazon advantage", perhaps aptly named because Amazon rather than the author receives the greater part of the advantage. To join, you will need copies of his book, an ISBN and a bar code. Then visit Amazon advantage. Follow the steps but read the fine print. Amazon charges an annual fee ($ 29.95 now and reimbursable or not to sell any of his books), and your Commission is 55 per cent of their retail selling price. Amazon will notify to send books and how many. Pay the cost of shipping and not have a voice in the number to send. If Amazon wants to fifty, you pay the shipping of fifty, even if the books are not sold. If Amazon only two at the same time, it can be found doing frequent small consignments which may be longer and more costly than a shipment of large if his book is selling steadily.

Advantage: Once Amazon gets their books and start selling, you don't have to try email to individual orders.

Disadvantages: Not only has to pay an annual fee to appear, but 55% of the Amazon Commission is very high. For example, a book for a price of $25.95 would mean a gain of $11.68 for the author. Remember that you will also have contained in the cost of sending the books to Amazon so their profit is still lower.

Being an independent seller through Amazon

How: You can not independently sell his book on Amazon even his book requires an Amazon account advantage so regardless, appears there. Follow the steps above to be a customer of Amazon advantage and then later I tell Amazon book already is not available, or if they are traditionally published, published by a press subsidy, or a distributor of registration such as Ingram, the Publisher or distributor will create your Amazon account advantage for you and pay rates, offering royalties as agreed with the Publisher or Distributor. Today, many independent printers and book design firms will also show books on Amazon for published authors and simply charge a small fee only flat (usually around $50) to display your book for you. The book can be listed as out of print, which means that Amazon does not have any copy and is not necessary to send them to anyone.

Once the book has an ad on Amazon, you can open an Amazon seller account to sell your book independently. First, search for the title of the book on Amazon. On the right side of the screen to your Amazon announcement is a small area in box with the question, "Do you have one to sell?" followed by click on a button that says: "Sell yours here." Click on the button and follow the steps to display your book and your information. As many copies can a list available as you wish, provided that he has copies that many in stock. Customers can now buy the book directly from Amazon instead. Not pay anything to the Amazon until the book is sold.

Advantages: The advantages are many, especially in terms of its profit. Instead of taking 55% Commission with an account of the advantage of Amazon, Amazon has something closer to 25%. Amazon also gives you a credit of $3.99 to send his book, to be paid the cost of sending if sent via media mail. Thus, for example, that book $25.95 was used as an example above and weighs about a pound, will cost you $2.77 to mail. (Amazon pays you $23.71 for sale and $3.99 for shipping) which means that its profit is $20.94 (approximately double $11.68 fewer shipment had sold through Amazon advantage).

Another advantage to an individual seller's account is that while Amazon may indicate his book retail $25.95, in your account of seller that can enumerate slightly lower that price which makes it less expensive for customers. You can also put the book, it includes not only as a "New" but includes that it is autographed by the author and personally by him. Even if you sign books that send directly to Amazon, Amazon announce to you that they are autographed, so contract your books on your "signed by the author" merchant account can be an advantage for you. Many readers will feel an autographed book is of more value than one that you isn't.

A final advantage is that you get information, address and email address of the buyer, to learn more about the client as you would if Amazon had sold the book. Preserve this information for future mailings of marketing or updates to the client when it comes out of his next book. Finally, it could persuade the client to purchase directly through their website, rather than through Amazon, thus giving a greater profit on sales.

Disadvantages: You must send the book within 48 hours of the order, and you are responsible for packaging and shipping, which means if your book is popular will make frequent trips to send it by mail, but worth it if it is to sell the book.

Another disadvantage is that the customers of Amazon may not receive free Super protective shipping on orders of $25 or more if a product is a vendor of Amazon, instead of Amazon directly. This could take the client less likely to buy your product, but if readers really want that his book, probably not mind paying a few extra dollars for shipping. However, if Amazon is also the sale of his book, customers will probably choose purchase that copy instead of looking copies available from vendors.

As an author, it is necessary to determine which option of selling on Amazon is most beneficial for you. In my opinion, you listed as an independent vendor is the best choice and best Amazon kept secret, but as I said, can do both and experiment unless you decide to provide greater monetary return for their time and financial investment.

Discover - what is an Audio Book?

How would you define an audit book? It is the easiest way to explain what is a book of audio to tell that the only difference between a real book in the library and an e-book would be the "delivery" of the contents in the book. So back to the question: "what is an audio book?" these are books that can listen to the content of the books through your ipod or car radio as they are driving to work in the morning. Most people enjoy taking these books because it is easier to carry an e-book with you with a hard book heavy espaldo when traveling on vacation or for work. Also, you can easily move forward or back to chapters to listen to key points in your favorite novel or book of investment. Does this gives you a clear definition of what is an audio book? If it isn't, you will get the idea continues to read the article.

Audio books have grown in popularity as more people are accepting to live in a world based on the technology where there are navigation systems, video games and phones. Define what is an audio book and used an e-book, you will find that he has something that can keep with you always and does not require any physical storage. This is a great advantage compared to a hard back book, since that time these types of books become worn or damaged. You can also download an e-book on various products, such as a computer, MP3 player or ipod. Finally, you can potentially teach their child or children to read through this book that can listen to the pronunciation of words as they are learning to read. Now do you understand what is an audio book? Another way to define this term would be looking for various resources for the title "What is an audio book?". It should be fairly simple to define the term "Is an audio book" through some independent research on the internet.

What is key to buy these books trafficking to find out what topic interests you and its ability to effectively listen to this e-book always has a limited time to read a book. For example, you can purchase these books on various topics, however, probably will limit the type of eBook you buy based on their personal time and the use of purchasing this type of book. Also, you can probably purchase a book entitled "what is an audio book?" This may sound silly, but you can have a lot of authors who have qualified audio books: what is an audio book? ". When you read the book, can provide information about not only in the definition of what is an audio book but

Some people may be wary of spending money on an article which have been conditioned to remove books from a library or buy books. However, you will find that most libraries along with many other retailers are ebooks with the public library. The uniqueness of having an e-book is that you will find the author actually narrating his books or someone with a great voice with an emphasis on the content of the books and make more intrigued about your topic of interest. This will truly help you to clearly define "What is an audio book?"

Before you make your first purchase of an audio book, consult with other people who have made similar purchases. This can be achieved through the review of specific customer of e-books reviews websites. Once you have read these reviews, you must make your first purchase on your favorite topic or in a book that have been recommended by the book club. If you are not satisfied as with any other product you may return your purchase, but more than likely that you probably enjoy the experience and I regret not buying an e-book.

A brief history of the book.

"The free communication of thought and opinion is one of the most precious rights of man; every citizen may therefore speak, write and print freely."

(French National Assembly, 1789)

I. What is a Book?

UNESCO's arbitrary and ungrounded definition of "book" is:

""Non-periodical printed publication of at least 49 pages excluding covers".

But a book, above all else, is a medium. It encapsulates information (of one kind or another) and conveys it across time and space. Moreover, as opposed to common opinion, it is - and has always been - a rigidly formal affair. Even the latest "innovations" are nothing but ancient wine in sparkling new bottles.

Consider the scrolling protocol. Our eyes and brains are limited readers-decoders. There is only that much that the eye can encompass and the brain interpret. Hence the need to segment data into cognitively digestible chunks. There are two forms of scrolling - lateral and vertical. The papyrus, the broadsheet newspaper, and the computer screen are three examples of the vertical scroll - from top to bottom or vice versa. The e-book, the microfilm, the vellum, and the print book are instances of the lateral scroll - from left to right (or from right to left, in the Semitic languages).

In many respects, audio books are much more revolutionary than e-books. They do not employ visual symbols (all other types of books do), or a straightforward scrolling method. E-books, on the other hand, are a throwback to the days of the papyrus. The text cannot be opened at any point in a series of connected pages and the content is carried only on one side of the (electronic) "leaf". Parchment, by comparison, was multi-paged, easily browseable, and printed on both sides of the leaf. It led to a revolution in publishing and to the print book. All these advances are now being reversed by the e-book. Luckily, the e-book retains one innovation of the parchment - the hypertext. Early Jewish and Christian texts (as well as Roman legal scholarship) was written on parchment (and later printed) and included numerous inter-textual links. The Talmud, for example, is made of a main text (the Mishna) which hyperlinks on the same page to numerous interpretations (exegesis) offered by scholars throughout generations of Jewish learning.

Another distinguishing feature of books is portability (or mobility). Books on papyrus, vellum, paper, or PDA - are all transportable. In other words, the replication of the book's message is achieved by passing it along and no loss is incurred thereby (i.e., there is no physical metamorphosis of the message). The book is like a perpetuum mobile. It spreads its content virally by being circulated and is not diminished or altered by it. Physically, it is eroded, of course - but it can be copied faithfully. It is permanent.

Not so the e-book or the CD-ROM. Both are dependent on devices (readers or drives, respectively). Both are technology-specific and format-specific. Changes in technology - both in hardware and in software - are liable to render many e-books unreadable. And portability is hampered by battery life, lighting conditions, or the availability of appropriate infrastructure (e.g., of electricity).

II. The Constant Content Revolution

Every generation applies the same age-old principles to new "content-containers". Every such transmutation yields a great surge in the creation of content and its dissemination. The incunabula (the first printed books) made knowledge accessible (sometimes in the vernacular) to scholars and laymen alike and liberated books from the scriptoria and "libraries" of monasteries. The printing press technology shattered the content monopoly. In 50 years (1450-1500), the number of books in Europe surged from a few thousand to more than 9 million! And, as McLuhan has noted, it shifted the emphasis from the oral mode of content distribution (i.e., "communication") to the visual mode.

E-books are threatening to do the same. "Book ATMs" will provide Print on Demand (POD) services to faraway places. People in remote corners of the earth will be able to select from publishing backlists and front lists comprising millions of titles. Millions of authors are now able to realize their dream to have their work published cheaply and without editorial barriers to entry. The e-book is the Internet's prodigal son. The latter is the ideal distribution channel of the former. The monopoly of the big publishing houses on everything written - from romance to scholarly journals - is a thing of the past. In a way, it is ironic. Publishing, in its earliest forms, was a revolt against the writing (letters) monopoly of the priestly classes. It flourished in non-theocratic societies such as Rome, or China - and languished where religion reigned (such as in Sumeria, Egypt, the Islamic world, and Medieval Europe).

With e-books, content will once more become a collaborative effort, as it has been well into the Middle Ages. Authors and audience used to interact (remember Socrates) to generate knowledge, information, and narratives. Interactive e-books, multimedia, discussion lists, and collective authorship efforts restore this great tradition. Moreover, as in the not so distant past, authors are yet again the publishers and sellers of their work. The distinctions between these functions is very recent. E-books and POD partially help to restore the pre-modern state of affairs. Up until the 20th century, some books first appeared as a series of pamphlets (often published in daily papers or magazines) or were sold by subscription. Serialized e-books resort to these erstwhile marketing ploys. E-books may also help restore the balance between best-sellers and midlist authors and between fiction and textbooks. E-books are best suited to cater to niche markets, hitherto neglected by all major publishers.

III. Literature for the Millions

E-books are the quintessential "literature for the millions". They are cheaper than even paperbacks. John Bell (competing with Dr. Johnson) published "The Poets of Great Britain" in 1777-83. Each of the 109 volumes cost six shillings (compared to the usual guinea or more). The Railway Library of novels (1,300 volumes) costs 1 shilling apiece only eight decades later. The price continued to dive throughout the next century and a half. E-books and POD are likely to do unto paperbacks what these reprints did to originals. Some reprint libraries specialized in public domain works, very much like the bulk of e-book offering nowadays.

The plunge in book prices, the lowering of barriers to entry due to new technologies and plentiful credit, the proliferation of publishers, and the cutthroat competition among booksellers was such that price regulation (cartel) had to be introduced. Net publisher prices, trade discounts, list prices were all anti-competitive inventions of the 19th century, mainly in Europe. They were accompanied by the rise of trade associations, publishers organizations, literary agents, author contracts, royalties agreements, mass marketing, and standardized copyrights.

The sale of print books over the Internet can be conceptualized as the continuation of mail order catalogues by virtual means. But e-books are different. They are detrimental to all these cosy arrangements. Legally, an e-book may not be considered to constitute a "book" at all. Existing contracts between authors and publishers may not cover e-books. The serious price competition they offer to more traditional forms of publishing may end up pushing the whole industry to re-define itself. Rights may have to be re-assigned, revenues re-distributed, contractual relationships re-thought. Moreover, e-books have hitherto been to print books what paperbacks are to hardcovers - re-formatted renditions. But more and more authors are publishing their books primarily or exclusively as e-books. E-books thus threaten hardcovers and paperbacks alike. They are not merely a new format. They are a new mode of publishing.

Every technological innovation was bitterly resisted by Luddite printers and publishers: stereotyping, the iron press, the application of steam power, mechanical typecasting and typesetting, new methods of reproducing illustrations, cloth bindings, machine-made paper, ready-bound books, paperbacks, book clubs, and book tokens. Without exception, they relented and adopted the new technologies to their considerable commercial advantage. It is no surprise, therefore, that publishers were hesitant to adopt the Internet, POD, and e-publishing technologies. The surprise lies in the relative haste with which they came to adopt it, egged on by authors and booksellers.

IV. Intellectual Pirates and Intellectual Property

Despite the technological breakthroughs that coalesced to form the modern printing press - printed books in the 17th and 18th centuries were derided by their contemporaries as inferior to their laboriously hand-made antecedents and to the incunabula. One is reminded of the current complaints about the new media (Internet, e-books), its shoddy workmanship, shabby appearance, and the rampant piracy. The first decades following the invention of the printing press, were, as the Encyclopedia Britannica puts it "a restless, highly competitive free for all ... (with) enormous vitality and variety (often leading to) careless work".

There were egregious acts of piracy - for instance, the illicit copying of the Aldine Latin "pocket books", or the all-pervasive piracy in England in the 17th century (a direct result of over-regulation and coercive copyright monopolies). Shakespeare's work was published by notorious pirates and infringers of emerging intellectual property rights. Later, the American colonies became the world's centre of industrialized and systematic book piracy. Confronted with abundant and cheap pirated foreign books, local authors resorted to freelancing in magazines and lecture tours in a vain effort to make ends meet.

Pirates and unlicenced - and, therefore, subversive - publishers were prosecuted under a variety of monopoly and libel laws (and, later, under national security and obscenity laws). There was little or no difference between royal and "democratic" governments. They all acted ruthlessly to preserve their control of publishing. John Milton wrote his passionate plea against censorship, Areopagitica, in response to the 1643 licencing ordinance passed by Parliament. The revolutionary Copyright Act of 1709 in England established the rights of authors and publishers to reap the commercial fruits of their endeavours exclusively, though only for a prescribed period of time.

V. As Readership Expanded

The battle between industrial-commercial publishers (fortified by ever more potent technologies) and the arts and craftsmanship crowd never ceased and it is raging now as fiercely as ever in numerous discussion lists, fora, tomes, and conferences. William Morris started the "private press" movement in England in the 19th century to counter what he regarded as the callous commercialization of book publishing. When the printing press was invented, it was put to commercial use by private entrepreneurs (traders) of the day. Established "publishers" (monasteries), with a few exceptions (e.g., in Augsburg, Germany and in Subiaco, Italy) shunned it and regarded it as a major threat to culture and civilization. Their attacks on printing read like the litanies against self-publishing or corporate-controlled publishing today.

But, as readership expanded (women and the poor became increasingly literate), market forces reacted. The number of publishers multiplied relentlessly. At the beginning of the 19th century, innovative lithographic and offset processes allowed publishers in the West to add illustrations (at first, black and white and then in color), tables, detailed maps and anatomical charts, and other graphics to their books. Battles fought between publishers-librarians over formats (book sizes) and fonts (Gothic versus Roman) were ultimately decided by consumer preferences. Multimedia was born. The e-book will, probably, undergo a similar transition from being the static digital rendition of a print edition - to being a lively, colorful, interactive and commercially enabled creature.

The commercial lending library and, later, the free library were two additional reactions to increasing demand. As early as the 18th century, publishers and booksellers expressed the fear that libraries will cannibalize their trade. Two centuries of accumulated experience demonstrate that the opposite has happened. Libraries have enhanced book sales and have become a major market in their own right.

VI. The State of Subversion

Publishing has always been a social pursuit and depended heavily on social developments, such as the spread of literacy and the liberation of minorities (especially, of women). As every new format matures, it is subjected to regulation from within and from without. E-books (and, by extension, digital content on the Web) will be no exception. Hence the recurrent and current attempts at regulation.

Every new variant of content packaging was labeled as "dangerous" at its inception. The Church (formerly the largest publisher of bibles and other religious and "earthly" texts and the upholder and protector of reading in the Dark Ages) castigated and censored the printing of "heretical" books (especially the vernacular bibles of the Reformation) and restored the Inquisition for the specific purpose of controlling book publishing. In 1559, it published the Index Librorum Prohibitorum ("Index of Prohibited Books"). A few (mainly Dutch) publishers even went to the stake (a habit worth reviving, some current authors would say...). European rulers issued proclamations against "naughty printed books" (of heresy and sedition). The printing of books was subject to licencing by the Privy Council in England. The very concept of copyright arose out of the forced registration of books in the register of the English Stationer's Company (a royal instrument of influence and intrigue). Such obligatory registration granted the publisher the right to exclusively copy the registered book (often, a class of books) for a number of years - but politically restricted printable content, often by force. Freedom of the press and free speech are still distant dreams in many corners of the earth. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), the V-chip and other privacy invading, dissemination inhibiting, and censorship imposing measures perpetuate a veteran if not so venerable tradition.

VII. The More it Changes

The more it changes, the more it stays the same. If the history of the book teaches us anything it is that there are no limits to the ingenuity with which publishers, authors, and booksellers, re-invent old practices. Technological and marketing innovations are invariably perceived as threats - only to be adopted later as articles of faith. Publishing faces the same issues and challenges it faced five hundred years ago and responds to them in much the same way. Yet, every generation believes its experiences to be unique and unprecedented. It is this denial of the past that casts a shadow over the future. Books have been with us since the dawn of civilization, millennia ago. In many ways, books constitute our civilization. Their traits are its traits: resilience, adaptation, flexibility, self re-invention, wealth, communication. We would do well to accept that our most familiar artifacts - books - will never cease to amaze us.

Why do we have to read books?

I've been a reader of books as a souvenir. Personally, would rather spend my time reading a book that watching television (unless, when I came to business, then would be watching TV, just to poke fun at what is working on the tube). So what reasons can share you why others would want to consider reading a book in a priority activity in his personal life??

1) Reading books can help you be more productive with your time. If you have nothing while waiting for something to happen while still programming, better than reading a book. Waiting time, can be simply good read a book. While waiting for the traffic moving, or while you go and to their destination, can also read a few pages of a book (is a different matter altogether if you are a driving - need then to listen to an audio book or books in a different format). Or read a book to someone who is driving and those willing and prepared to listen to, if it works for you.

(2) To read a book it is only in training and learning rolled into one single, no matter how some have questioned how people can actually learn or train with a book. I remember a question that sent out a my professor in graduate school, is an expert corporate coach, asked the class if books can actually train people. It was a manner of speaking, playing their own doubts about the use of books in education. I said the opposite and explained myself. Well, it was not convinced by my ideas (basically, books give ideas that apply in their daily life situations) and thought that it should have been taken against me. But even so, still I hit my position on books a great training and learning tool. Apply what you read books on life and check, if you made mistakes. That, therefore, learn in the process - books, then provide training and learning.

(3) The books are great companions, especially when you are in life situations that others describe as phase "will get gross, the rough is going". When friends are unbearable to satisfy, for some clear and various personal reasons, can only read books. Seeking solace in the middle of the pages of a book, can help alleviate whatever it is now. Pages of reading two or up to ten pages a day, and this will be sufficient to their needs (reading).

(4) You will have everything important, natural, through books and supernatural beings. Remember: God even wrote a book, in the form of the Bible (which is done through people like us, of course). Face to face, again so talk with these people (large consequences) when you read about them in books.

(5) You will learn great stories that define and explain the mystery and depth of human experience. You can read literature, contemporary books, religious books, history books, including technical books ("give instructions on what to do"), poetry and is still "hear" on big stories that always inspire you. To see some kind of lighting is the "truth" reading the pages of these books that promise to tell great stories.

(6) The habit of reading books is that they live between the large and highly respected who have lived on Earth. There are so many of these people who have made reading books of their habits. Google just about famous people who read books and will be given a list of pages where you may see names of well-known people who have the habit of reading book. Then, will be in good company if you've been reading books.

(7) (Ironic!) People who read books look smart (albeit not necessarily intelligent)-can be an interesting feature to show to others to create a positive image, unless you can think of if they do not appreciate having a "smart look", that "nerd" more than anything else. Do and noticed that the majority of people who have wealth has a stack of books shows sample or maintained somewhere in their homes? Only indicates that reading book can help you be smarter (or even more rich,) If you stretch it.

(8) Books make great gifts! Either give him one book that believes another person needs to read for some particular reason to keep in mind, give it a book you want to that person (or indirectly said that he wished to have and read). Go, get a book from the library or simply give as a gift something that you read in any particular case at all. People who received books as gifts is satisfied (or maybe questioning their motives), but the message will surely come through.

(9) Always is cool to read books in new technology platforms, as you join with something innovative or even revolutionary. This has been the case since man invented the printing. Even for the blind, platform and new technologies need to be developed, so that they can access more reading (and writing). For the rest of us, we can read books now directly from our mobile phones (in text format mainly) related to Amazon Kindle, a PC or laptop, or an audio book (although this means listening to), as well as the more recent reading technologies soon to offer to the market.

(10) Finally, the books are works of art themselves. Sample works of art, to help lift our spirit and keep us in constant search for what is beautiful in the midst of difficulties of life, they literally are among the pages of books. You've seen books published by the publishing house Taschen? Or those of Phaidon Press? His books are considered stunning pieces of art. There is much work devoted to the preparation of a book, that the Act of writing by an author. There are the publishers, printers, publishers, agents, critics, among others, of marketing people. Until the advent of the Internet (where may prefer a book by itself), is a labour-intensive effort to get to a book. It needs a lot of brain work just to get a book published and in his hands, so please, go read a book.

Write a book in only 10 steps now

Do you write your book in 30 days or less? It is how to create my own books of nonfiction. Now, you can discover the 10 steps that I use to write books quickly, easily, even without difficulties. If it seems that time can not or do not like writing, this book can help make an author's book, too.

Follow these 10 steps to develop a book of nonfiction to promote your business or professional practice, to make progress in their academic career or business, to make more money.

Now, let's start! Putting it all in writing, and complete the following steps. Seeing his plan of will remember and push you, bring it closer to becoming the author of a book.

1 Start with the basic considerations. Think about what your goals are to write a book, which is your audience what you niche is targeting. Use your answers to help you plan your book.

2. Select a topic of your client wants and needs to know about a topic which also coincides with its objectives. Insurance is not too broad, is feasible in 30 days or less and already has the knowledge and experience to make writing a book on this subject.

3. Identify the main idea or theme of his book, the inclination to use to differentiate from the competition. Write down the idea to its readers, the key point to remember after reading his book. Doing this will keep you focused to write his book.

4 Designing a catchy title that will attract the attention of the right audience, are drawn, offer a benefit to win them. Stuck for ideas for your title? Find a headline of article's title or magazine of book that gets your attention. Adapt it to its own title of the book. Either use formula a title as the best way of 10 to...

5. Developing an outline for your book. Find books similar to which you want to write. Then use these books as models for his own. Do not omit this step if you really want to write your book in 30 days.

6. Pick up your content. Notice, I did not write his book. If you are serious about how to become an author's book now, not all of the writing, not start from scratch for his book. Let other users help you.

For example, to assemble a collection of quotations or advice on a particular topic related business - a form quite easy and potentially fast content if you have others to contribute to their efforts. To register an official to compile quotes online. Or get colleagues to give him their favorite tips for use in his book, with the promise that you "will reward" with an autographed copy of the printed version of his book, a note in his book about his contributions, etc..

7 Arrange content to match the schema. Search for the missing information in its schema but not in the content that has been gathered. Fill in the gaps - or exclude that you part of his scheme, if the information is not relevant or important. Keep you same - Recalling 30 days or less!

8 Add the additional components that provide impact and value as a professional-looking cover, some pictures, some titles loaded benefits tables or graphs, lists with bullets and so forth. Do not go overboard, or does not meet the deadline to write his book.

Don't forget the extra legal components that could add effects, also - if omitted (for example, renounce the copyright notice).

9 Review and edit your book. Not let typos, spelling errors, punctuation mistakes ruin your credibility. Please contact reviewers by peers for your suggestions about his book. Them specific questions in order to obtain the information you need to make your book even better. Not pass missed the opportunity to solicit evidence put in his book, too.

Once again, do not go overboard. It is good enough. Avoid perfectionism. Not hold you become the author of a book in 30 days or less.

10 To distribute the book to your target audience, waiting anxiously for their well-crafted book. Leverage your book for most of the benefits of being an author. If it is in digital format, freely giving their free e-book. Place it on your Web site. Offer it as an opt-in to use it to say thank you to others. Deliver a coupon in an event with the URL to download the book online.

If you have your printed book, obviously spend money for that occurred. Do not worry. You can freely distribute the excerpts from his book as a digital version. Create an e-book for more publicity, without the costs of printing additional copies of his book.

11. Here is the critical step of bonus. Check your book to make sure that there are always tons of benefits to readers - has given practical, immediately useful information to help them solve the problems that kept awake at night, so the results you are looking for by reading his book. People reading the book for what it offers, not for what it offers. Create voucher worth to them, and that will be useful for you.

Are you ready to write a book that can enhance your business and make more money for you? You will find a virtually unlimited range of opportunities to grow your business once you become an author's book.
